Man Arrested for May 25 Bank Robbery

Mount Vernon Police District – Yesterday evening, detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau arrested Norman Williams, 42, of Fort Washington Maryland, for the May 25 bank robbery in Huntington.

At 1:05 p.m., officers responded to the Truist Bank at 5922 Richmond Highway in Alexandria for a bank robbery. Surveillance footage captured the suspect entering the bank, displaying a gun, and demanding money. A bank employee tackled the suspect who dropped the gun and ran from the bank. The suspect’s gun was recovered at the scene and there were no injuries to the victims.

Through their investigation, detectives identified Williams as the suspect. Yesterday, detectives and patrol officers located Williams in the parking lot of the City Side Apartments and took Williams into custody without incident. Williams was charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and abduction.  He was held on no bond.
