Violent Crime Spree Ends After A Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound
Reston Police District – Dana Paul Roman, 45, of Richmond is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Richmond after a violent crime spree early Sunday morning in Reston.
At 1:58 a.m. Sunday morning, officers responded to a home in the 12000 block of Thunder Chase Drive for a shooting. Officers found one victim inside the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers immediately rendered medical aid and the victim was taken to the hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers found a second victim in a car a short distance away suffering from a stab wound to the arm and trauma to the face. The victim was also taken to the area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminarily, detectives determined Roman assaulted and abducted the second victim in Henrico County. This abduction continued into Fairfax County. When Roman and the victim arrived at the Thunder Chase Drive address, Roman got out of the car and began shooting, striking the first victim multiple times before running from the area. Officers searched the area extensively with the assistance of K9, Fairfax County Helicopter, and Virginia State Police but he was not located.
As the investigation continued, a third victim was identified in Henrico County. The unharmed victim was carjacked and abducted in Reston and forced to drive Roman to Henrico County. For more information regarding Henrico County’s incident Click Here.
Detectives obtained six felony warrants for abduction by force, carjacking, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, malicious wounding, and assault. Detectives continue to actively investigate the circumstances that led up to the violent encounters. Preliminarily, the assault and shooting are not random acts of violence, and the parties are known to each other.
