Detectives Arrest FCPS Hourly Employee on CSAM Charge
Franconia Police District – Detectives from our Cyber and Forensics Division Child Exploitation Unit arrested a Fairfax County Public School employee on possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
In March, detectives began investigating a Cyber Tip submitted by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) indicating a CSAM video had been uploaded to an online platform. NCMEC forwarded the tip through the Virginia State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce (ICAC) to FCPD’s Child Exploitation Unit.

On June 30, after a thorough investigation, detectives executed a search warrant in the 6300 block of Saddle Tree Drive, in the Rose Hill area of the Franconia Police District, and arrested Aaron Matthew Betts, 32, of Rose Hill. Betts was charged with one count of possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material and is currently being held without bond.
Betts has been employed with Fairfax County Public Schools since September 2021, where he served in roles to include working with the intramural sports program. The material contained in the Cyber Tip appeared to come from the internet and, at this time, detectives do not believe there is any involvement with FCPS students. A full and thorough investigation will be conducted into Betts’ personal electronics to ensure the safety of our community.
