This July, FCPD Turns the Heat Up on Summer Crime Enforcement
Fairfax, VA—This month, our Summer Crime Prevention team will focus enforcement on driving while under the influence. This enforcement is aimed at promoting safe and responsible driving behavior and reducing the number of accidents on our roadways.
Across the country, the days around the 4th of July holiday have some of the highest numbers of impaired driving-related crash fatalities each year. The teams will be made up of officers from all eight district stations and will work in conjunction with our DUI Squad to saturate areas of high crashes to look for impaired drivers.

For the entire month of July, officers will be stepping up their patrol efforts focusing on drivers who present a danger on our roadways. Officers will be strictly enforcing traffic laws associated with impaired driving and educating the public about the importance of safe driving habits. The Fairfax County Police Department is encouraging all drivers to plan ahead by designating a sober driver, using public transportation, or arranging for a ride-sharing service. Wrap’s SoberRide® continues to offer free and discounted rides this year to drivers in the Washington-Metropolitan area during the 4th of July holiday.
Using data-informed decision-making, FCPD’s coordinated efforts to reduce crime through strategic prevention and focused enforcement in specific areas across the county aim to make Fairfax County a safer place to live, work, and play.
