Update: K9 Tracks Stolen Vehicle Suspect who Crashed Car and Caught Home on Fire

West Springfield Police District – Detectives from our Criminal Investigation Division have charged two adults for their involvement in a stolen vehicle case that resulted in a home catching fire.

Through further investigation and the discovery of critical evidence, detectives determined additional suspects involved in the case. As the investigation into Nico Doublet, the individual previously arrested in this case, progressed, evidence emerged indicating that someone was using a stolen credit card associated with the case. This discovery led detectives to further investigate the involvement of other individuals. Detectives obtained home surveillance footage which captured the presence of an unknown man in the vicinity of the incident.

Detectives identified Dwayne Anderson Jr., 23, of Lorton, as the driver of the stolen vehicle that crashed into the home. He has been arrested and charged with Grand Larceny-Auto Theft, Hit and Run Damage to Property over $1,000, and Theft of Credit Card. Anderson is being held at the Adult Detention Center with no bond.

West Springfield Police District – A 32-year-old man was arrested this morning after stealing a car in a Lorton neighborhood then crashing into an electrical box that led to a home catching fire.

Officers responded to the 9300 block of Cumbria Valley Drive in Lorton for a man entering vehicles. Officers parked their cruisers and approached the area on foot. Officers found Nico Anthony Doublet inside a 2020 BMW X3. Doublet ignored the officers’ commands, backed the car out of the driveway and sped off at a high rate of speed. No FCPD officers were in their vehicles when they contacted him and did not pursue him.

Doublet crashed the stolen car into an electrical box in the front yard of a home in the 8400 block of Whitehaven Court. The car became engulfed in flames, which spread to the home. Doublet ran from the car to evade officers. Five individuals in the home were quickly evacuated from the home.

A K9 officer tracked Doublet to a nearby wood line as he was attempting to conceal himself. Doublet refused to follow officers’ directions and was taken into custody with the assistance of a K9. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for a minor injury. Doublet was arrested for Trespassing, Auto Theft, and Hit and Run. He was held on no bond.
