Man Arrested For Shooting Into Occupied Homes

Reston Police District — Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau arrested a man for an overnight shooting that damaged three homes.

At 11:05 p.m. on October 10, officers responded to the 13000 block of Ashnut Lane in Hattontown for the report of gunshots. Detectives and officers met with homeowners and observed damage to the rear of three townhomes caused by gunfire. All three homes were occupied at the time, and no one was injured during the incident.

Detectives canvassed the area and found multiple cartridge cases on the rear deck of a home. Officers from our Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) responded to the address. Upon execution of a search warrant, SWAT officers took Sangram Singh Grewal, 26, of Herndon into custody.

Detectives recovered two firearms, several magazines and ammunition. An Emergency Substantial Risk Order was served and detectives from our TAM unit have been assigned to the investigation.

Grewal was charged with three counts of Attempted Malicious Wounding, three counts of Maliciously Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling, and three counts of Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. He is being held at the Adult Detention Center on no bond.
