#SquadGoals: FCPD’s “Safe December” Zooms to Success

Fairfax County, VA – The FCPD’s DUI Enforcement Squad wrapped up 2023 ensuring Fairfax County roads were kept safe, successfully making over 500 traffic stops and more than 40 DUI arrests during the 2023 Safe December initiative.

From December 4 through December 29, the squad ramped up their efforts and increased staffing to promote sober driving, pinpoint impaired drivers, and increase officer presence on the roadways. As a result, the Safe December initiative proved to be successful with hundreds of citations and arrests contributing to a significant reduction in alcohol-related incidents and enhancing overall road safety in Fairfax County during the holiday season.

The increased vigilance and proactive measures of the DUI Enforcement Squad have not only deterred impaired driving but have also fostered a heightened awareness among the community about the importance of responsible alcohol consumption. The collaborative efforts of the squad, in conjunction with public outreach campaigns, have undoubtedly made a positive impact, reinforcing the message that choosing a sober ride is a critical decision that safeguards lives and ensures a joyous and safe holiday celebration for all.

Although Safe December has concluded, our officers will continue to be out in full force every month of 2024, enforcing traffic laws, educating our community, and ensuring the safety of our roadways as part of their commitment to the residents of Fairfax County.
