The driver of the Honda Civic, Jose Armando Sanchez Aguilar, 18, of Reston, was transported to the hospital in conditions considered to be life-threatening. Unfortunately, the driver succumbed to his injuries on January 17.

The passenger, an adult woman, was also transported to the hospital in conditions considered to be non-life threatening.

Detectives determined the driver was traveling southbound on Fairfax County Parkway. The driver lost control, left the roadway, and struck the sound barrier wall. Preliminarily, speed and alcohol are believed to be factors.
