Detectives Arrest Two Teens for Armed Robbery in Burke
West Springfield Police District- Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau have charged a 16-year-old and 17-year-old in connection to an armed robbery that occurred earlier this month.
On January 14, the juvenile victim met with officers at the Mount Vernon District Station to report a robbery that had occurred earlier that day at approximately 3:00 p.m. The victim reported he was in the 5800 block of Royal Ridge Drive in Burke when he was approached by the juvenile suspect, whom he knows. The suspect brandished a handgun, threatened the victim, and demanded money and clothing. The armed suspect took the victim’s cash, shoes, sweatshirt, belt, and jeans, then fled the scene in a black Honda Civic driven by a second suspect. Fortunately, the victim was unharmed.
On January 26, Major Crimes Bureau and Fugitive detectives, and members of SWAT successfully located and arrested both suspects. The juveniles were charged with Armed Robbery. The juvenile suspects are currently being held at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center. Additionally, the armed juvenile suspect had outstanding warrants on file for Robbery, Probation Violation, and Failure to Appear.
