FCPD Huddles Up for Super Bowl Safety: Tips for a Winning Game Day

Fairfax County, VA – As anticipation builds for the upcoming Super Bowl, the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) is committed to safeguarding the well-being of fans both during the game and beyond. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, check out some safety tips from the FCPD:

Tips for a Safe Super Bowl:

  1. Plan Ahead: Whether you’re cheering at favorite bar, restaurant or your living room, plan your transportation ahead of time. Utilize rideshare services, public transit, or assign a designated sober driver if alcohol is on the menu.
  2. Stay Aware: Keep a watchful eye on your surroundings, especially in crowded areas. If something seems amiss, don’t hesitate to report it to law enforcement immediately.
  3. Celebrate Responsibly: Enjoy the game responsibly by pacing your alcohol intake, staying hydrated, and arranging for safe transportation if drinking. Hosting a gathering? Ensure your guests have a plan to get home safely.
  4. Don’t Drink and Drive: If you’ve been drinking, do not get behind the wheel. Utilize rideshare services, taxis, or designate a sober driver to ensure everyone’s safety on the road.
  5. Secure Your Home: If you’re heading out to a Super Bowl event, take steps to secure your home. Lock doors and windows and consider installing outdoor lighting or a security system for added protection.
