UPDATE: $2 Bill Bank Robber Arrested
West Springfield District – Detectives arrested Wednesday’s bank robbery suspect who stole more than 80 $2 bills from a Wells Fargo in Burke.

Through detectives’ investigation, they identified the bank robbery suspect as a man wanted for a robbery that occurred Feb. 14. Detectives from our Auto Crimes Enforcement (ACE) squad located the getaway vehicle used in the bank robbery near the suspect’s home. ACE detectives, along with our Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit, Street Crimes Squad, and SWAT officers began monitoring the vehicle, waiting for the suspect to return.
Yesterday at approximately 2:15 p.m., Hani Abdelmohsen Ahmed, 21, of Burke was seen leaving his home and quickly taken into custody by detectives with our Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit.
The vehicle used in Ahmed’s robbery was determined to be stolen four days prior in the West Springfield District.

Following his arrest, a search warrant was conducted on Ahmed’s residence. Evidence linking him to the bank robbery, to include a two-dollar bill bundle, was located. Ahmed was charged with Armed Robbery, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Ahmed was also served with outstanding warrants linking him to an armed robbery that occurred on Seminary Road in Bailey’s Crossroads on Feb. 14, 2024. Ahmed is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

West Springfield Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are investigating a bank robbery that occurred yesterday morning at a Wells Fargo in Burke.

At 9:10 a.m. yesterday, February 28, a man entered the bank at 8900 Burke Lake Road, approached the bank teller and demanded money. No weapon was displayed or implied during the interaction. He took cash before leaving the bank on foot. No one was injured. Through the detective’s investigation, it was determined the suspect likely left the area in a black Hyundai 4-door sedan.
The suspect is described as a Black man, 5’9’’-6’2’’, thin build, wearing a black North Face hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and a black backpack.
