Former Fairfax County Sheriff Deputy Arrested for Inmate Assault

Fairfax County, VA – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau charged a former Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office Deputy for the assault of an inmate at the Adult Detention Center in January.

On January 3, the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs notified FCPD regarding an assault that occurred on January 1 at approximately 3:45 a.m. A sheriff’s deputy assaulted an inmate in the jail’s booking area following a verbal altercation. 

Yesterday, following a thorough investigation, detectives charged Nicholas Vaszil, 28, of Annandale, with Simple Assault. No mugshot is available due to a summons releasable warrant. Vaszil’s employment with the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office was terminated on January 30.
