Starting Summer Strong: FCPD’s June Summer Crime Prevention Initiative Sees Great Results

Fairfax County, VA – As Fairfax County and FCPD kicked off summer last month, officers involved in the 2024 Summer Crime Prevention Initiative demonstrated proactive enforcement, resulting in over 60 felony charges and more than 150 misdemeanor charges against suspects.

This three-pronged approach included (1) officers increasing proactive patrol and enforcements to combat reckless street takeovers, (2) increased foot patrols and presence at late-night establishments, and (3) working with community partners and businesses to create better long-term solutions.

Officers who participated in the initiative produced great results through their consistent hard work and dedication. Over 330 suspected fentanyl pills were taken off the streets, one stolen vehicle was recovered, and one stolen gun was seized from a convicted felon. Additionally, over 120 vehicle and pedestrian contacts were made to educate and enforce laws.

As FCPD continues the program through July and August, the coordinated efforts to reduce crime through strategic prevention and focused enforcement will continue to evolve and improve. Initiatives such as this are vital to ensuring Fairfax County community members are safe and informed. FCPD is at the forefront of implementing strategic crime prevention tactics, and the success of these programs is demonstrated daily through the notable data trends.
