FCPD Joins International Effort to Secure the 2024 Paris Olympic Games

Fairfax County, VA—As the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games are set to begin, the Fairfax County Police Department is proud to announce our participation in providing key security at the Games. As one of only four U.S. police departments asked to assist, the FCPD will be sending 12 officers and an explosive detection canine to assist the French National Police in protecting the athletes, spectators, and Olympic staff at the Games.

“I am immensely proud to announce this prestigious opportunity for our officers to represent our community at the 2024 Paris Olympics,” said Chief Kevin Davis. “This opportunity showcases FCPD’s commitment to public safety both domestically and on a global stage.”

Our officers will be working in joint patrols with French forces, helping secure Olympic venues and popular tourist areas. Officers will be stationed across Paris and assigned to areas of public safety, transportation security, foreign assistance, and international security missions.

Prior to FCPD’s departure to Paris, the officers will undergo training in first aid, explosive ordinance detection, intelligence briefings, and familiarization with international police practices.  This experience will provide a unique collaboration between the FCPD and French National Forces to ensure a safe and successful Olympic Games.
