Fairfax County, VA –Skilled college athletes, former military, a pro gamer, and many more diverse backgrounds all came together to shape Session 86, our newest academy graduates.
Session 86 is comprised of 32 newly sworn Fairfax County Police Officers. This latest graduating class is a unique and diverse session where eight different languages are spoken by 15 different officers. These languages consist of Spanish, Nepali, Tigrinya, Vietnamese, German, Hokkien, Farsi, and American Sign Language.
Twenty of our recruits are college graduates and one obtained their master’s degree before starting their career with FCPD.
Session 86 is also in line with the FCPD 30X30 pledge, aiming to increase the representation of women in police recruit classes to 30% by the year 2030. Of the 32 new officers in this class, eight are women (25%).

Officers began training at the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy on January 29, 2024, and graduated today after completing a 26-week training academy. The academy consisted of basic instruction in the procedures, techniques, and principles of law enforcement, incident report writing, criminal law, traffic enforcement, and first aid. Officers also received training designed to help officers build trust and positive relationships within their communities.
After graduation, officers will be assigned to one of the Fairfax County Police Department’s eight district stations and enter a 12-week field training period. During field training, officers will be paired with a primary and secondary Field Training Instructor (FTI) where they will be evaluated on the skills they learned in the academy. In addition to our FCPD graduates, there were four Fairfax County Sheriff’s Deputies.
