Detectives Investigate Inmate’s Death at the Adult Detention Center

Fairfax County, VA – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are conducting a death investigation of an inmate at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC).

This morning around 1:58 a.m., Nicholas Giampa, 24, was found unresponsive in his single cell at the ADC. Deputies immediately began performing life-saving measures. Giampa was declared deceased at the ADC.  Detectives continue to investigate Giampa’s death and preliminarily, foul play is not suspected.

Giampa has been in the custody of the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office since January 19, 2018.

By policy, the FCPD investigates all Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office in-custody deaths.
