Ending Summer Strong: FCPD’s August Summer Crime Prevention Initiative Concludes With Impressive Results

Fairfax County, VA – As Fairfax County and FCPD close out the summer, officers involved in the 2024 Summer Crime Prevention Initiative demonstrated proactive enforcement that resulted in over 90 criminal charges and over 330 vehicle and pedestrian contacts to educate and enforce laws.

This three-pronged approach included (1) officers increasing proactive patrol and enforcement to combat reckless street takeovers, (2) increased foot patrols and presence at late-night establishments, and (3) working with community partners and businesses to create better long-term solutions.

Officers who participated in the initiative produced great results through their consistent hard work and dedication. Over 90 traffic stops were initiated, with over 90 criminal charges and over 30 traffic citations  issued.

As FCPD continues the program next summer, the coordinated efforts to reduce crime through strategic prevention and focused enforcement will evolve and improve. Initiatives such as this are vital to ensuring Fairfax County community members are safe and informed. FCPD is at the forefront of implementing strategic crime prevention tactics and the success of these programs is demonstrated daily through the notable data trends.
