Detectives Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Springfield
West Springfield Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate a fatal pedestrian crash in Springfield.
On September 19, at around 9:38 p.m., officers responded to the 8100 block of Old Keene Mill Road in Springfield for a pedestrian who was struck by the driver of a vehicle. The driver remained at the scene.
Preliminarily, detectives determined that Oscar Daniel Martinez Granados, 24, of Woodbridge, walked into the eastbound lanes of Old Keene Mill Road, not in a crosswalk. The driver of an Acura sedan was traveling east on Old Keene Mill Road and struck Granados. Granados was transported to the hospital and was pronounced deceased on September 21.
Detectives believe that alcohol does not appear to be a factor for the driver, and speed is still under investigation. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.
