Detectives Investigate Fatal Bicyclist Crash Near Penderwood

Fair Oaks Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal bicycle crash near Penderwood.

Yesterday, at 12:14 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of West Ox Road and Tilton Valley Drive near Penderwood for an individual riding an electric bicycle who was struck by the driver of a Kia Optima.

Preliminarily, detectives determined the bicyclist was traveling westbound on Tilton Valley Drive and made a left onto southbound West Ox Road. The driver of the Kia was traveling southbound on West Ox Road in the right lane when it was struck by the bicycle.

The bicyclist, Richard Albrecht, 89, of Oakton was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Kia remained on scene and was uninjured. Preliminarily, speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
