Detectives Investigate Fatal Crash in Chantilly

Sully Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal crash that occurred this past weekend in Chantilly.

On November 16 at approximately 3:48 p.m., officers responded to the 14500 block of Trans World Avenue in Chantilly for a crash.

Preliminarily, CRU detectives determined a 3-year-old was riding a tricycle on a private driveway and crossed onto Trans World Avenue. Subsequently, the driver of a 2012 Ford F-450 struck the child at a low rate of speed.

The 3-year-old was declared deceased at the scene. The driver remained at the scene. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.

FCPD’s Chaplain Unit and additional officers will continue to provide support and an increased presence in the affected community. Victim specialists from our Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure the victim’s family is receiving appropriate resources and assistance.
