Update: Driver Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter for Fatal Crash in Reston

Reston Police District —Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit have charged the driver from a November 23rd fatal crash with Involuntary Manslaughter and DWI.

Detectives determined Ayaan Usmani, 23, of Reston, was traveling southbound on Fairfax County Parkway at a high rate of speed prior to Elden Street when he lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway. The passenger, Tina Habibi, 23, of Herndon, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Yesterday, Usmani was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Driving While Intoxicated.  He was held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and released on bond.

Reston Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that left a passenger dead in Reston.

Today at 2:40 a.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle crash near Fairfax County Parkway and Elden Street in Reston involving a 2019 BMW M850I that left the roadway, flipped over and came to rest.

The passenger, Tina Habibi, 23, of Herndon, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The driver, an adult man, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminarily, detectives believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
