Update: Driver Charged with Felony Hit and Run for Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Franconia Police District —Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit have charged the driver from a September 13th fatal pedestrian crash with Felony Hit and Run.

Detectives determined that Caleb Allison, 26, of Alexandria, was traveling eastbound on Franconia Road near Elder Avenue in Springfield when his vehicle left the road. He struck Julio Cesar Pasassi, 43, of Springfield, who was walking on the sidewalk. Allison then fled the scene before officers arrived, and Pasassi was declared deceased at the scene.

On December 16, detectives obtained a Felony Hit and Run warrant for Allison. Yesterday, Allison turned himself into the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and was held on no bond.

Franconia Police District — Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash in Springfield.

On September 13, around 6:00 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Franconia Road and Elder Avenue in Springfield for a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle.

Preliminarily, detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit determined Julio Cesar Pasassi, 43, of Springfield was walking west alongside the eastbound lanes of Franconia Road on the sidewalk. The driver of a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling east on Franconia Road when they drove off the roadway and struck Pasassi. Pasassi was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled before police arrived.

The investigation into the crash continues as detectives work to identify the driver of the Volkswagen.
