Detectives Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash Near Fair Lakes
Fair Oaks Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred last night near Fair Lakes.
On December 27, at 6:36 p.m. officers responded to a crash at West Ox Road and Piney Branch Road near Fair Lakes involving a 2024 BMW motorcycle and a 2021 GMC SUV.
Preliminarily, detectives believe the driver of the GMC was traveling southbound on West Ox Road and attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound Piney Branch Road. The motorcyclist was traveling northbound on West Ox Road and struck the GMC in the intersection.
The motorcyclist, Michael Yung, 26, of Lorton, was declared deceased at the scene. A passenger of the GMC was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and continue to investigate if speed was a factor.
