Detectives Investigate Fatal Crash in Springfield

Franconia Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that left a man dead in Springfield yesterday.

On January 3 at 8:06 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on the Franconia Springfield Parkway prior to Bonniemill Lane in Springfield.

Preliminarily, detectives determined that the driver of a 2016 Ford Van, Keun Hoon Lee, 89, of Alexandria was traveling eastbound on Franconia Springfield Parkway when his vehicle left the roadway, flipped over, and came to rest on an embankment.  Lee was declared deceased at the scene.

The speed remains under investigation, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
