Man Shot After Attempting to Force Entry into Home
Mason Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are investigating a residential shooting that left a man hospitalized after he attempted to force entry into a home near Lake Barcroft.
On January 15, at 2:27 a.m., officers responded to a 9-1-1 call from a homeowner in the 6400 block of Oakwood Drive near Lake Barcroft for a suspicious person. The homeowner reported that an unknown man was attempting to force entry into their home.
As officers were responding, the resident remained on the line with 9-1-1. The man continued his attempt to force entry into the residence and the homeowner discharged his firearm at the man. Officers located the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and began performing life-saving measures. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and all residents were unharmed.
Preliminarily, detectives determined that the man assaulted an unrelated victim at a nearby residence prior to the incident. The victim of the assault suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
