SRO Arrests Student for Possessing a Firearm at School
Franconia Police District— A School Resource Officer (SRO) has arrested a 16-year-old student after being found in possession of a firearm on school property.
Today, at 10:03 a.m., a student notified the SRO that a peer was in possession of a firearm at Edison High School. The SRO immediately began an investigation and requested additional officers and resources. Officers identified the suspect as a 16-year-old student. He was taken into custody and a handgun was recovered. No one was injured.
The teenager was charged with Possession of a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Firearm by a Minor, and Possession of a Firearm on School Property, and is currently being held at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center.
There will be an increased presence of officers as the investigation continues at the school.
