Man Arrested After Abduction and Attempted Sexual Assault
Mount Vernon Police District – A 58-year-old man is in custody after abducting a woman and attempting to sexually assault her in Hybla Valley.
On March 9, shortly after 3:00 a.m., officers responded to the 7700 block of Richmond Highway in Hybla Valley for an abduction. The victim, an adult female, was walking when an unknown man approached her in a vehicle.
The suspect offered the victim a ride but refused to let her leave once she was in the vehicle. He then attempted to sexually assault her. The victim escaped from the vehicle, and he fled the area. The victim was not injured.
Patrol officers began checking the area and found the suspect and his vehicle shortly after. Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau assumed the investigation, and the suspect was identified as Jose Mauricio Sosas Ramos, 58, of Alexandria.

Sosas Ramos was arrested and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Abduction with Intent to Defile. He was held on no bond.
