Shamrocks & Safe Rides: Keep the Luck on Your Side
Fairfax County, VA– St. Patrick’s Day is a time for celebration, but safety should always come first. The Fairfax County Police Department wants to remind everyone to celebrate responsibly and make smart choices to keep our roads and community safe.
Plan Ahead – Don’t Drink and Drive
Driving under the influence puts lives at risk. If you plan to drink, designate a sober driver, use public transportation, or take advantage of ridesharing services. Our DWI Squad will be out in full force to prevent impaired driving, so make the right decision before getting behind the wheel.
Use a Safe Ride Option – WRAP’s SoberRide Program

To help prevent drunk driving, the Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) is offering its SoberRide initiative. From 4 PM on March 16 to 4 AM on March 17, you can get a $15 Lyft credit for a safe ride home. Visit wrap.org/soberride for details and promo codes.
Stay Alert and Look Out for Others
- If you see a drunk driver, call 911 immediately.
- Pedestrians should stay visible, use crosswalks, and watch for impaired drivers.
- Be responsible – look out for friends and help them get home safely.
Let’s work together to ensure a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day for everyone. Make smart choices, celebrate responsibly, and stay safe!
