Man Arrested after Non-Fatal Shooting in Lorton

Franconia Police District  Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau have arrested a man after a non-fatal shooting that left one man hospitalized in Lorton.

Yesterday, at 9:56 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 9800 block of East Hill Drive in Lorton. Officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.  The victim was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition but later downgraded to non-life-threatening condition.

Preliminarily, detectives determined that the suspect, boyfriend of the victim’s daughter, was verbally arguing with the victim outside of his home. The suspect then discharged a firearm, hitting the victim and fled the scene before officers arrived.

Officers identified the shooter as Christopher Cureton, 18, of Lorton. Officers located Cureton nearby exiting a residence and took him into custody without incident.

Cureton was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with Malicious Wounding and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He was held on no bond.
