FCPD Launches 2025 Summer Crime Prevention Initiative

Fairfax County, VA – FCPD is proud to announce the launch of its 2025 Summer Crime Prevention Initiative, a continued commitment to proactive policing, public safety, and strategic enforcement to ensure our communities remain among the safest in the nation.

This three-month initiative (June through August) will address seasonal crime trends through data-informed strategies and targeted deployment. In partnership with the department’s Crime Analysis Unit (CAU), each month will feature a unique focus area designed to enhance community safety and address emerging concerns in real time.

For the month of June, FCPD kicked off the first of three waves in its 2025 Summer Crime Prevention Initiative with a focus area of enhancing quality of life for residents across Fairfax County by increasing law enforcement presence and visibility in and around establishments that attract an increased number of criminal disturbances.

As activities and nightlife ramp up during the summer months, FCPD is taking deliberate steps to ensure that everyone can safely enjoy their time out across the county, while also discouraging the types of behavior that can compromise the safety and well-being of our communities.

This effort includes:

  • Increased Foot Patrols: Officers will be more visible in key entertainment districts and public high-traffic areas throughout the county.
  • Proactive Presence: Patrol units will maintain a strong presence at bars, restaurants, vape shops, and other venues that, according to crime data, could use our presence to deter criminal activity, reduce disorderly conduct, and foster a sense of safety.
  • Community Collaboration: Officers will partner with local business owners, property managers, and community leaders to develop long-term, sustainable strategies that support safe, vibrant nightlife and county activities without compromising neighborhood peace.

Using data-informed decision-making, FCPD’s coordinated efforts to reduce crime through strategic prevention and focused enforcement in specific areas across the county aim to make Fairfax County a safer place to live, work, and play.

The department will announce the July focus area in the coming weeks as we continue our coordinated efforts to address seasonal crime trends across Fairfax County.
