UPDATE: Suspect Arrested for Abduction and Attempted Sexual Assault in Woodlawn

Mount Vernon Police District – Today, detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau arrested Wuilver Hernandez Garcia after he turned himself in at the Mount Vernon District Station.

Hernandez Garcia was wanted for the abduction and attempted sexual assault of a victim in Woodlawn that occurred on June 5.  Hernandez Garcia saw the release and turned himself into the police this morning.

Hernandez Garcia was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with Abduction with Intent to Defile, Attempted Rape, and Strangulation. He is being held on no bond. 

Victim specialists from our Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure the victim is receiving appropriate resources and assistance.

Detectives Identify Man in Abduction and Attempted Sexual Assault in Woodlawn

Mount Vernon Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau have identified Wuilver Mauricio Hernandez Garcia as the suspect in an abduction and and attempted sexually assault in Woodlawn yesterday.

On June 5, at 12:46 a.m., officers responded to the 3800 block of Roxbury Court in Woodlawn for an abduction and attempted sexual assault. The adult victim reported that while walking home she was approached by a suspect.

The suspect followed the victim, attacked her, and attempted to sexually assault her in a nearby wooded area.  The victim fought back and the suspect fled the scene. Officers conducted a thorough search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect.  The victim was treated for her injuries at the hospital.

Through their investigations detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau identified the suspect as Wuilver Mauricio Garcia Hernandez, 36, of Alexandria. Detectives have obtained warrants for Abduction with Intent to Defile, Attempted Rape, and Strangulation.
