Detectives Seek Electric Scooter Suspect in Daytime Package Thefts
Fairfax County, VA – Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Division are seeking the community’s help in identifying a suspect who stole packages off porches of homes in Annandale and Springfield.
On June 17, at 10:30 a.m., officers responded to the 6300 block of Alberta Street in Springfield for a theft report. The victim reported that after a package containing electronics was delivered to the residence, an unknown suspect stole the package and fled the area on an electric scooter.

Later that day, at 3:37 p.m., officers responded to the 3900 block of Shelley Lane in Annandale for a similar report. The victim stated that a package containing electronics was delivered to their home before it was stolen by a suspect who also fled on an electric scooter. Detectives believe the same individual is responsible for both thefts and have assumed the investigation.

Package Theft Prevention Tips:
- Have packages delivered to a secure location (such as your workplace or a trusted neighbor).
- Use package lockers or in-store pickup options when available.
- Install a video doorbell or security cameras to monitor your porch.
- Sign up for delivery alerts and retrieve packages promptly.
- Request a signature for delivery, especially for valuable items.
- If you’re going out of town, place delivery holds or ask someone to collect your packages.
