FCPD Continues 2025 Summer Crime Prevention Initiative with “Safe July” Campaign

Fairfax County, VA – FCPD is proud to announce the continuation of its 2025 Summer Crime Prevention Initiative with the launch of “Safe July,” the second wave of our proactive effort to keep Fairfax County one of the safest communities in the nation.

This three-month initiative (June through August) addresses seasonal crime trends through data-informed strategies and targeted deployment. In partnership with the department’s Crime Analysis Unit (CAU), each month features a unique focus area designed to enhance community safety and address emerging concerns in real time.

For the month of July, our Safe July campaign focuses on reducing impaired driving and promoting safe driving behaviors throughout Fairfax County. As celebrations and summer gatherings increase over the holiday period, the safety of our roads remains a top priority.

To support this effort, FCPD is taking the following actions:

  • Enhanced DWI Enforcement: Officers from all eight district stations are working alongside our dedicated DWI Enforcement Squad, increasing enforcement efforts and strategically deploying resources to areas identified by crime analysts as high-risk for impaired driving incidents.

  • Data-Informed Deployment: Patrol and traffic units will be positioned in locations and times identified through analysis of impaired driving trends, ensuring enforcement is located where we can have a greater impact.

  • Community Awareness: FCPD will engage with community members through outreach efforts and social media to remind drivers of the dangers and consequences of impaired driving and encourage everyone to plan ahead for a safe ride home.

The goal of Safe July is to deter impaired driving and improve traffic safety for all residents and visitors to Fairfax County, especially during the busy holiday season.

As FCPD maintains the Summer Crime Prevention Initiative, our coordinated efforts will continue to drive impactful results throughout the summer months. FCPD remains at the forefront of innovative crime prevention strategies and is committed to reducing crime and enhancing public safety through strategic prevention and focused enforcement.
