Detectives Investigate Fatal Crash in Fair Oaks
Fair Oaks Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that left a man dead in Fair Oaks.
Yesterday at 1:22 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at Monument Drive and Fairfax County Parkway in Fair Oaks.
Preliminary, the driver of a 2024 Hyundai Tucson was traveling eastbound on Monument Drive, drove through a red signal and struck a 2012 Honda Accord. The driver of the Honda Accord, Stephen Rhodes, 69, of Fairfax, was transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition and later pronounced deceased.
Preliminarily alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. Detectives continue to investigate whether speed was a factor.
Victim specialists from our Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division made contact with the victim’s family to ensure they receive appropriate resources and assistance.
