UPDATE: Leesburg Man Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter After Fatal Crash in Lorton
West Springfield Police District —Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit have charged a Leesburg man from the April 23rd fatal crash in Lorton.
Detectives determined that Steven Kowalik, 64, of Leesburg was traveling northbound on Ox Road when he fell unconscious, crossed over the grass median, and struck a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze near Davis Drive head-on. The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze, Michelle Davis, was declared deceased at the scene.

On July 11, Kowalik turned himself in and was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter. He was later released on a $7,500 bond.

West Springfield Police District– Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left one woman dead in Lorton.
Yesterday at 5:14 p.m., officers responded to Ox Road and Davis Drive in Lorton for a crash. A 2012 Ford F350 towing a fishing boat was being driven northbound on Ox Road when the driver fell unconscious, crossed over the grass median, and struck a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze near Davis Drive head-on.
The driver of the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, Michelle Davis, 33, of Lorton, was declared deceased on the scene. The driver of the Ford F350 was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminarily, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. Detectives continue to investigate whether speed was a factor.
