Detectives Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Lincolnia

Mason Police District— Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash in Lincolnia.

On August 1, at 12:06 a.m., officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian near Little River Turnpike and Beauregard Streetin Lincolnia.

Officers determined that the driver of a 2003 Lincoln Town Car was traveling eastbound on Little River Turnpike past Beauregard Street. The pedestrian, Angel Benito Matom Velasco, 19, of Alexandria, was on the roadway in the eastbound lanes and was struck by the driver of the Lincoln. Velasco was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition and later pronounced deceased. The driver of Lincoln was uninjured and remained on scene.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors for the driver. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.
