Detectives Investigate Inmate’s Death at the Adult Detention Center

Fairfax County, VA – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are conducting a death investigation of an inmate at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC).

On the evening of July 30, Omar Maknassi, 32, of Alexandria, was arrested and transported to the ADC. In the early morning hours on July 31, Maknassi was found unresponsive in a single cell at the ADC. Deputies and EMS immediately began performing life-saving measures.  Maknassi was declared deceased at the ADC.  Detectives continue to investigate Maknassi’s death and preliminarily, foul play is not suspected.

By policy, the FCPD investigates all Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office in-custody deaths.
