Detectives Arrest Man for Aggravated Sexual Battery of a Minor
Sully Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau have arrested a man on multiple charges related to indecent liberties with a minor.

On April 20, officers responded to the 14000 block of Braddock Road in Centreville for the report of a sex offense. The complainants reported they found their 14-year-old child with an adult man in a vehicle. The complainants confronted the suspect who then fled the area before police arrived. Detectives from our Sex Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.
Detectives determined that Akbar Yunusi, 50, of Chantilly, met the victim through a social media platform. He then traveled to the victim on multiple occasions to engage in illicit acts with the minor.
Detectives learned Yunusi purchased a one-way flight to Istanbul, Turkey approximately one day after being caught with the victim. On August 3, with the assistance of Customs and Border Protection, Yunusi was arrested upon his arrival back to the United States.
Yunusi was charged with three counts of Taking Indecent Liberties with Children, eight counts of Use of Communication System to Facilitate Certain Crimes Against Children, three counts of Production of Child Pornography, Sodomy, and Aggravated Sexual Battery. He is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
Victim specialists from our Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure the victim is receiving appropriate resources and assistance.
