Detectives Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Springfield

West Springfield Police District— Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash in Springfield.

On August 15, at 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian near Hunter Village Drive and Rockledge Court in Springfield.

Officers determined that the driver of a 2007 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Hunter Village Drive. The pedestrian, Jay Kim, 76, of Springfield, was crossing the road within a marked crosswalk and was struck by the vehicle. Kim was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition and later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Toyota was uninjured and remained on scene.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.
