Convicted Felon Arrested for Auto Theft and Possession of a Firearm in Groveton
Mount Vernon Police District- Detectives from our Auto Crimes Enforcement (ACE) Unit arrested a man for stealing a vehicle and unlawfully possessing a firearm in Groveton.
On August 14 at approximately 10:38 a.m., ACE unit detectives were on proactive patrol in the Mount Vernon District when they located a stolen vehicle in the 6000 block of Richmond Highway in Groveton.
Detectives approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Nathan Temesgen, 23, of Alexandria. Temesgen was taken into custody without incident. During an inventory search of the stolen vehicle, detectives found a loaded firearm. Further investigation determined that Temesgen is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Temesgen was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Grand Larceny Auto, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, and Petit Larceny. He is being held on no bond.
This case is part of Fairfax County Police’s Operation Press Check, an initiative aimed at reducing illegal firearm possession by convicted felons to improve public safety.
