Organized Retail Theft Crew Charged After $20,000 Shoplifting Spree in Reston

Reston Police District – Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Division and officers from the Reston District have charged an organized retail theft crew for over $20,000 worth of theft from the Home Depot in Reston.

On July 19, at 4:51 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Reston Parkway in Reston for a shoplifting case. Home Depot Loss Prevention reported multiple suspects were in the store stealing merchandise. Officers arrived and arrested Roberto Hernandez Cruz, 27, of Ashburn. Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation.

Detectives worked closely with Home Depot Asset Protection and uncovered an organized theft crew involving Hernandez Cruz and six other suspects who were linked to additional thefts committed at the same store dating back to June of this year. Detectives learned the crew visited the store on over twenty different occasions and stole various tools.

Detectives and Asset Protection connected the below suspects to over $20,000 worth of stolen merchandise from the Home Depot.

  1. Cristian Rivas Tiquiram, 24, of no fixed address was charged with twelve counts of Petit Larceny, eight counts of Grand Larceny, four counts of Larceny with Intent to Sell, and Conspire to Commit Organized Retail Theft. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and was held on no bond.
  2. Roberto Hernandez Cruz, 27, of Ashburn was charged with four counts of Grand Larceny, three counts of Petit Larceny, and two counts of Larceny with Intent to Sell. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and was released on a $6,500 bond.
  3. Diego Canjura Ramirez, 18, of no fixed address was charged with two counts of Petit Larceny, two counts of Grand Larceny, and Larceny with Intent to Sell. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and was released on a $2,500 bond.
  4. Junior Gonzalez Coello, 30, of Herndon was charged with two counts of Grand Larceny and two counts of Petit Larceny. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and was released on a $17,000 bond.
  5. Leslie Argueta Medina, 23, of Herndon was charged with Grand Larceny,Larceny with Intent to Sell, and Conspire to Commit Larceny. She was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and was held on a $1,000 bond.
  6. Cristian Hernandez Mejia, 39, of Herndon was charged with four counts of Grand Larceny and two counts of Larceny with Intent to Sell. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and was held on no bond.
  7. The 17-year-old juvenile was charged with two counts of Petit Larceny.
