Sully Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal four-vehicle crash that left a man dead in Centreville.
Yesterday at 2:24 p.m., officers responded to a crash at Sully Park Drive and Kamputa Drive in Centreville.
Preliminary, three vehicles were traveling on Sully Park Drive in the southbound lanes when the driver of a Honda Pilot was observed traveling northbound on Sully Park Road in the southbound lanes into oncoming traffic. The three vehicles swerved to avoid a collision but were then struck by the driver of the Honda Pilot.
The driver of the Honda Pilot, Darrell Ewing, 80, of Clifton, was transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition and later pronounced deceased. Two of the other drivers and passengers were transported to the hospital in non-life threating injuries.
Preliminarily alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. Detectives continue to investigate whether speed was a factor.
