FCPD Shines a Light on Local Support for World Suicide Prevention Day
Fairfax County, VA— Today, September 10, is World Suicide Prevention Day, a time to raise awareness, support one another, and remind our community that help is always available. Suicide can affect anyone and it is preventable.
Our officers and dispatchers respond daily to people in crisis. FCPD wants you to know that if you or someone you love is struggling, you are not alone. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength, and Fairfax County offers many resources for individuals and families:
- Sharon Bulova Center for Community Health – 8221 Willow Oaks Corporate Drive, Fairfax, VA. Walk-in help available. 703-573-5679 (24/7 crisis line).
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline – Call or text 988 anytime for immediate and confidential support.
- 24/7 HopeLink Regional Crisis Call Center – Call the HopeLink Regional Crisis Call Center at 703-527-4077.
- Fairfax County Public Schools Mental Wellness Services – Resources for students, parents, and staff.
- In an immediate, life-threatening situation, call 911.
We all have a role to play in preventing suicide. Whether by checking in on a loved one, sharing resources, or calling for help in an emergency, your actions can make a difference.
Our officers are trained to support community members in crisis, and through our Co-Responder Program, our team is ready to respond alongside CSB specialists to provide timely, compassionate help.
