Detectives Investigate Fatal Shooting in Woodlawn
Mount Vernon Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Woodlawn.
On September 19 at 4:45 a.m., officers responded to the 3400 block of Buckman Road in Woodlawn for a report of vehicle tampering. While in the area, officers located Jaylin Hartless, 21, of Alexandria, on the ground next to his vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Officers attempted CPR before fire and rescue personnel declared him deceased on scene.
Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting. Preliminarily, this does not appear to be a random act.
