Update: Three Suspects Arrested for Fatal Shooting in Woodlawn

Mount Vernon Police District  Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau have arrested three suspects in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred in Woodlawn on September 19, thanks to tips submitted through Fairfax County Crime Solvers.

On September 19, at 4:45 a.m., officers responded to the 3400 block of Buckman Road in Woodlawn for a report of vehicle tampering. While in the area, officers located Jaylin Hartless, 21, of Alexandria, on the ground next to his vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Officers attempted CPR before fire and rescue personnel declared him deceased on scene.

Following our press release and investigative efforts by detectives, numerous tips were received through Fairfax County Crime Solvers. Through those tips, detectives identified Tavon Ferguson, 31, of Alexandria, Tennida Ferguson, 49, of Alexandria, and Tavon Lang, 32, of Alexandria as the suspects involved in the shooting.

On September 23, detectives from our Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension unit located Tavon Ferguson in Woodlawn. Ferguson was wanted out of Alexandria City and was transferred to their Adult Detention Center and held on no bond. Detectives obtained warrants for Second Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Ferguson is expected to be extradited to Fairfax County after legal process.

On September 25, detectives located and arrested Tennida Ferguson and took her into custody. She was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with Accessory to Murder after the Fact, Concealing Evidence, and Obstruction of Justice. She was held on no bond.

On September 26, detectives from our Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension unit located Lang and took him into custody. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with Second Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He was held on no bond.
