Final Wave Complete: FCPD Reels in Nearly 50,000 Citations and Warnings
Fairfax County, VA – The Fairfax County Police Department has concluded the 2025 “Road Shark” campaign, issuing nearly 50,000 citations and warnings to dangerous drivers on Fairfax County roadways over the last five waves. This represents a 43% increase from 2024, when officers issued approximately 35,000 citations and warnings. During the final wave, conducted from October 13 through October 19, officers issued 10,565 citations andwarnings, to include more than 900 for speeding violations.

Since March, Fairfax County officers and Virginia State Troopers have remained dedicated to promoting safer roadways by educating drivers and enforcing traffic laws. The Road Shark campaign continues to have a measurable impact across the county, resulting in hundreds of arrests for Driving While Intoxicated and hundreds of citations for Reckless Driving and the Unlawful Use of Handheld Devices While Driving.

As the campaign concludes, we remind all drivers to plan ahead, stay focused behind the wheel, obey posted speed limits, andnever drive under the influence.
