Detectives Investigate Fatal Crash in Clifton

Sully Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on October 4 in Clifton.

On October 4, at 3:45 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at Clifton Road and Moore Road in Clifton. Officers determined that the driver of a 2008 Ford Ranger, Peter Kavaljian, 65, of Clifton, was traveling eastbound on Moore Road. As he attempted to cross Clifton Road, he failed to stop, and his vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a 2016 Ford Fusion.

Kavaljian was transported to a local hospital with injuries initially believed to be non-life-threatening. Through their investigation, officers determined alcohol was a factor in this crash and Mr. Kavaljian was issued a summons for DWI.

On October 21, detectives were notified by the medical examiner’s office that Kavalijan succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash.
