Protect Yourself and Your Belongings

Use strong, high-security locks: Avoid inexpensive or combination locks. This suspect has been known to use bolt cutters to break into lockers. Choose a heavy-duty lock made of hardened steel whenever possible.
Keep valuables minimal: Bring only what you need to work out. Leave wallets, jewelry, and large amounts of cash at home or secured in your vehicle’s trunk before entering the gym.
Stay alert in locker areas: Report anyone lingering near lockers, entering without gym attire, or appearing to tamper with locks. Notify gym staff or call police if something seems off.
Check your accounts frequently: Review your credit and debit card activity for unauthorized charges, especially after visiting a gym or public facility.
Set up transaction alerts: Many banks offer instant notifications for card use. These can help you catch fraudulent activity quickly.
