Detectives Charge Man for W&OD Trail Assaults and Seek More Information

Reston Police District– Patrol officers with the assistance of detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division have arrested a man linked to multiple incidents around the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail in Reston.

On October 30, an unknown suspect jumped in front of a female bicyclist on the W&OD trail and tackled her off her bike before fleeing.

On November 1, an unknown suspect entered a hotel room in the 12100 block of Sunset Hills Road in Reston. The man stated he was security looking for someone who defecated on the sidewalk. When in the room, he exposed himself to women in the room then left the area.

On November 9, officers responded to the W&OD Trail near Hunter Mill Road for a suspect who attempted to strike a man walking on the trail and took a woman’s phone. Officers found Koby Berry, 27, of Reston, on the trail and took him into custody. He was charged with two counts of Simple Assault and Larceny. He was taken to the Adult Detention Center and released.

On November 11, at 9:22 a.m., officers responded to the 1400 block of North Point Village Center in Reston for an assault. An unknown man touched the victim inappropriately while she was in a store. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect as Berry. Detectives obtained a warrant for Simple Assault. On November 15, officers located Berry and he was taken into custody.

Through their investigation, detectives determined Berry was the suspect in the November 1 indecent exposure incident and the October 30 assault. He was taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with Indecent Exposure, Assault, and Trespassing. He remains held on no bond.
