Detectives Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Springfield

Franconia Police District— Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash in Springfield.

On November 16, at 8:07 p.m., officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian at Old Keene Mill Road and Hanover Avenue in Springfield.

Officers determined that the driver of a 2011 Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Old Keene Mill Road prior to Hanover Drive. The pedestrian, Marcos Ramirez, 53, of no fixed address, was crossing the road when he was struck by the vehicle. Ramirez was transported to a local hospital with injuries initially believed to be non-life-threatening. The driver of the Honda was uninjured and remained on scene.

On November 28, detectives were notified by the Medical Examiner’s Office that Ramirez succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.
